Farmer's Market
This time of year is the best. The flowers, the smells, birds chirping, the cool breezes in the morning. All the things I adore about Spring. One of my favorite things to do on the weekends, once Spring arrives, is the Farmer's market. We are blessed where we live to have some wonderful options for farmers markets. Now that I live in Vancouver, I thought I would check out the downtown Vancouver farmers market. We could not have asked for a better day to go. I brought my best bud Jules, my Ellie and my Norms.
We went down there to get fresh flowers. I told myself awhile ago, I would get flowers every week. It's amazing what that does to your mood. Seeing flowers every morning . My issue has always been, though, the flowers at the store are so expensive for what you get. So, with the market opening, I was so excited to go and get some local ones. You can get a bunch for $10 -20.
You can get local honey, locally made jam, even a hat for your dog. I know, sorta weird huh? Who buys that stuff?!!! Scary! Never, in a million years. That is the beauty of the market, there is something for everyone. I go primarily for fresh flowers, veggies and fruit.
We came across some wonderful bunches of asparagus. I am not a fan of the "big stocks" that seem to be everywhere in the grocery stores. I heard somewhere, that the real flavor comes from the "small stocks". Interesting....
Look at these things
I ended my weekend, making this amazing, really easy dish Sunday. Grilled Salmon, yukon gold potatoes and fresh asparagus. Check it out-
I hope you enjoy your Spring Farmer's Market as much as I do. Enjoy.
