My July Obsessions...

This month there are some good things I need to share with you.

With summer in full swing and the fact that I am sure you guys have had your share of swimming, I have to share with you the Unite 7 seconds detaingler. I started using this months ago when I got extensions so that I would not comb them out...I have since become a huge believer in this little gem in a bottle. I use it on Ellie's curly, rats nest hair in the morning...huge help to avoid the screams. You only need a couple of sprays and this stuff completely gets any tangles you have out and it doesn't smell bad or leave a residue. You can buy it on ebay or amazon. Check it out.

My fairly new obsession is Bobby Brown Bronze Shimer Brick. This stuff is so awesome. I use it to give my face this amazing sunkissed skin. I use it on my cheeks, I use the white shimmer on my lids and I put a little layer underneath my eyes with the help of a q-tip. I love this for the winter to give me that color boost I need and in the summer for that sunkissed look. I put so much sunscreen on my face, I literally look like a ghost if I don't apply this on my face. The color also goes with any skin tone. I buy it at Nordstroms, but you can google where ever Bobby Brown is sold.

Murchison-Hume boys and girls bathroom cleaner. I came across this product recently at New Seasons. They had it on display when you came in the door. Being the total American consumer I am, snatched it up. I loved the look of it and I also loved that they named one for the boys bathroom and one for the girls bathroom. I know that might sound silly but it really is cool. It's not just the look that got me to buy more of it, it's the fact that it really works! I also love the fact that it's derived from almost 100% natural ingredients and it's cruelty free. It's literally Australian white grapefruit. All of their products are: Free from non-sustainable Palm Oil derived ingredients Free of the following harsh chemicals: 1-4 dioxane, ammonias, bleach, dyes, formaldehyde, parabens, phthalates, Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES). Huge nowadays. I am currenlty obsessed with the Ladies cleaner and the kitchen lemon verbena hand cream. All can be bought from the Murchison-Hume website or even cheaper at Amazon.com.

Go Set a Watchman, the critically acclamined second novel by Harper Lee of To Kill a Mockingbird. Featuring many of the iconic characters from To Kill a Mockingbird, Go Set a Watchman perfectly captures a young woman, and a world, in painful yet necessary transition out of the illusions of the past—a journey that can only be guided by one's own conscience. It is a must read, summer or not.

Nature's Way Hemp Protein Powder. I know, Hemp, that sounds gross doesn't it? Well, by itself it is. It's gross, grainy and smells awful. But mixed in your favorite shake, you wouldn't even know the difference. I have been putting a scoop of it in the kids' shake in the morning and they have yet to compain about the taste. Hemp is known for it's fiber and protein.

A little fact you might enjoy is that Hemp Powder is 50% protein, and it is protein in an easy-to-digest form. It is also a healthy source of dietary fiber, chlorophyll, and minerals including magnesium, iron, zinc and potassium. This finely milled powder has a rich, nutty flavor that is ideal for smoothies, baked goods or any recipe that could use a protein and fiber boost.

Hemp has been an integral part of life for many cultures throughout the world for thousands of years. Seed husk remains were discovered in Neolithic burial sites, indicating the significance of this plant in ancient times. The hemp plant (Cannabis sativa) is one of the earliest known cultivated crops, and it has many uses including textiles, fiber, wood, plastic and fuel alternatives. In the early 1940’s, Henry Ford built a car that was made completely of hemp plastic and fueled by hemp oil. The constitution of the United States was drafted on hemp paper and 'founding fathers' of the United States, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, were hemp farmers!

Check these out guys...My new July Obsessions. Hopefully your new ones too.

-Erin
