How did Stella get her groove back?
Have you ever been at that place in your fitness life when you have taken some time off? Has it been awhile since you have seen the inside of a gym? Are you afraid you might not get that drive back? It's ok. It's tough. Be kind to yourself and try not to beat yourself up for taking time away. In your mind you want to jump in where you left off but it's important to take the necessary steps to reintroduce yourself to balance and strength to prevent injury. You also have to mentally be ready to go back..
I think we have all had those times when we were super pumped with a new workout and started to do it everyday. We incorporated it into our daily lives. Then life happened...it could be as simple as your job got busier to as stressful as a death in the family. All it takes is that one moment and boom, you loose your groove. You loose that systomatic beat you have been on and getting it back can sometimes be frightening.
Try to stay committed to your decision to get back. Try, though to also stay flexible in your approach. Being flexible is better than beating yourself up, it gets you further ahead in your long term goal. It allows yourself the balance of recovery both mentally and physically and you will get the results faster and more effetively than beating yourself up.
Tips to get you back into that groove:
-Enlist in a buddy. That really is the key. I found when I got up early and had my neighbor waiting outside for me, I couldn't sleep in. I had no excuse.
-Get outside. It's summer and there are so many outdoor activites you can do to get your cardio back.
-Plan in advance. I love the mindbody ap. It makes it so easy to sign up for a class. There is no excuse to not go when it's in your calendar.
Be kind to yourself. Try to love the skin your in. Take it for what it is and start slow. It might be just a matter of trying an online workout. Maybe enlist in a friend or family member, I am sure they have been in your position at one time. Go on a hike to get your cardio back slowly then reintroduce yourself to a class.
You can get your groove back and it's ok to admit you don't currently have it. The key is to find it.... go find it. You will be happy you did.
